Traditional In-frame Handmade Kitchen
Including Boot Room and Cloakroom
This Georgian property underwent an extensive makeover in order to bring the interior finish in line with the exquisite exterior.
The redesign allowed for the main dining area to be moved to the more desirable location next to the window which allows for the idyllic view of fields to be enjoyed during breakfast, lunch and dinner. As well as this, we were able to install a 4 door, 3 drawer larder area which comprised of a built in tall fridge, double door illuminated pantry with automatic light sensors and an individual tall storage until which makes for the perfect area to conceal appliances such as the microwave and all of those additional cooking gadgets that otherwise would clutter the worktop and surfaces.
Starting with the kitchen, which was originally laid out in a different design, the project included building works, plumbing, plastering, flooring and more such as:
- Removing and replacing the ceiling including the joists, a much required maintenance project that the property needed to give it that well deserved tender love and care
- Relocating the main kitchen area to the other side of the room to better utilise the space, which including the relocation of the main services
- Alterations to the plumbing and pipework to allow for the new design
- Creation of the large island area housing both the sink and double drawer dishwasher and also creating the additional seating area which makes for the perfect social setting
- Underfloor heating (plumbed in wet-system)
- Flooring installation comprising of porcelain wood effect tiles and natural limestone
- Installation of traditional plaster coving and double depth skirting
- Lacanche range cooker on LPG gas (being located in a more rural area can lead to believe that there are limitations on choices such as gas, however LPG utilises gas canisters which allows for unrestricted access to all of the stunning gas range options there are available)
- Radio entertainment system fitting within the ceiling and complimentary touch screen wifi control system installed in a user friendly location
- Cast iron radiator
- Spotlights and designer wall lighting
- Antique statement mirror
The kitchen itself is from our handmade in-frame range which, being bespoke, allowed the kitchen to be finished in farrow and ball colours and fitted throughout both the kitchen and boot room/utility which also underwent a complete renovation. We chose gold and brushed brass as the accessory finish throughout the project which includes but is not limited to; kitchen door and drawer handles and knobs, USB sockets including under island sockets, filtered tap and light switches.
For the kitchen worktop a natural marble was chosen again with gold accents and was fitted on the island as well as the main surface areas, the pantry shelves, large splashback, floating shelf and window sill. The utility required a softer setting and therefore we opted for natural oak which lends itself well for surfaces and seating areas.
The boot room/utility includes:
- Built in undercounter freezer
- Built in washing machine
- Built in tumble dryer
- Coat closet
- Seating area
As the room acts as an entrance to the property and also leads onto the cloakroom, boiler cupboard and kitchen, we had 4 door areas to consider making it a priority to ensure the design opened up the room and did not make the space look crowded.
Our customer found it essential that the entire project sat well with the age and style of the property so when designing and advising on the cloakroom specification it had to be Burlington (Burlington is a leading and high end traditional bathroom manufacturer which offers a range of traditional bathroom furnishings, at the higher end of the price budget you benefit from fine and stunning details throughout all of their ranges. However, if you want to achieve a traditional look at less of a cost, then there are a wide range of other manufacturers which offer similar styles). Fitting a traditional close coupled toilet and wall hung basin with gold bottle trap and matching taps gave the cloakroom the perfect finish. Adding the vintage wall light and wall mirror along with the floral wallpaper and natural limestone tiles gave the room the timeless aroma that any homeowner would be proud of.
All in all whilst the project involved a high level of planning, consideration and time, it was a renovation well worthwhile which added a sophistication to the property that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
